I have served as Castle's Senior Vice President, Research & Development since September 2020. Previous positions at Castle include Vice President, Research & Development from July 2019 to August 2020, Vice President, Medical Affairs and R&D from April 2018 to July 2019, Executive Director, R&D from June 2015 to April 2018, and Manager of Scientific Relations from February 2011 to June 2015. Prior to joining Castle Biosciences I did postdoctoral fellowships at Baylor College of Medicine focused on the genetic regulation of rare ovarian granulosa cell tumors, and at University of San Diego, California evaluating the impact of glycosylation on cell function. My doctoral work at Northwestern University was in the the lab of Teresa K. Woodruff, PhD in the Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Cellular Biology department as part of the Interdepartmental Biological Sciences (IBiS) program. My research was focused on the structural characteristics of protein hormones important for regulating the reproductive system.Prior to pursuing my doctoral degree I spent five years at Gen-Probe, Inc., using the company’s proprietary nucleic acid amplification technology to design diagnostic assays for hematologic malignancies and solid tumors. I received a B.S. Degree in Molecular Biology from Temple University in Philadelphia. Over my 25 year career I have authored author many medical and scientific publications and am co-inventor on several of Castle Biosciences’ technologies.

Postdoctoral FellowBaylor College Of Medicine Aug 2008 - Feb 2011Houston, Texas, UsExploring bone morphogenetic protein function in granulosa cell tumor development and angiogenesis.Significance: Identified novel molecular interactions between the BMP and PDGF signaling pathways that establish protein kinase inhibitors as a valid therapeutic strategy for juvenile granulosa cell tumors. -
Postdoctoral FellowUniversity Of California, San Diego Jan 2007 - Jul 2008La Jolla, Ca, UsConducted research to elucidate protein glycosylation mechanisms in immune and hematopoietic cells.Significance: Established an innovative technique for the study of glycosyltransferases at the protein level that had not previously been accomplished using immunological detection methods. -
Graduate StudentNorthwestern University Jan 2000 - Jan 2006Investigated the structure-function relationships of activins, inhibins, and the receptors to which they bind, to elucidate the mechanisms by which each regulates the female reproductive axis.Significance: Successfully generated viable recombinant activin mutants and identified structural features of inhibin and activin that have essential applications to in vitro fertilization techniques
