I am responsible for the HSEW & facilities management delivery. I coordinate the Siemens Healthineers HSEW UK-wide initiatives to local, national, and international (European) regulations including delivery of corporate HSEW requirements. I support all UK Siemens Healthineers organisations concerning HSEW and lead the site specific facilities management team. I am part of the local leadership team.I represent all the UK Healthineers in UK Siemens-wide regional HSEW issues. I provide technical and leadership guidance to employees, leaders and GB&I factories as well as the UK sales & service team on their HSEW and regulatory responsibilities. To this end I keep up-to-date with environmental, H&S legislation, guidance & standards, ensuring the UK Siemens Healthineers factories & sales & service teams are prepared (concerning people, legislation & systems).I initiate consultation between UK Siemens Healthineers factories, including the UK sales & service teams, concerning any possible Healthineers implementation of corporate or regional HSEW or facility initiatives then act on any agreements. These agreements may involve contract negotiations and implementation concerning waste, health initiative delivery, ISO certifications or disaster recovery.

In 2015 the site was awarded AEO status for its Security processes. This security accreditation was achieved through a process designed by me allowing accreditation to the rigorous ‘Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise’ standards. Completing in 2014, under my leadership, I ran an Environmental Management best practice process with the British Safety Council being awarded the top 5-Stars for the site on my 1st attempt finally winning the prestigious Globe of Honour.Completing in 2013, by my leadership, I ran a sites wide Safety Management best practice process with the British Safety Council being awarded the top 5-Stars for the site on my 1st attempt finally winning the prestigious Sword of Honour.Two interesting challenges in this role:- Integrating contractor management into routine process for all staff being recognised as best in class.- Designing changing culture towards Health management at the site from Directors through to staff

My main concept in this role was to ensure that facilities management was a distinct, observable benefit to the site. Many times in my career facilities management been the weak link in site performance concerning EHS, cost management and delivery of services. In my role as Facilities Manager I was insistent that my staff and our subcontractors provided an exceptional service was seen (& publicised) as ‘outstanding’ and ‘customer focussed’ by the organisation. I lead facilities management from the ‘poisoned chalice’ to an effective organisation in 2 years by the creation of a contractor licensing system that ensured professionalism: Safety (RAMS), and competence of contractors was assessed before arrival on site – My mantra was (and still is) “No documents, No competence – No working!”.

My overall role brief: “To transform a semiconductor R&D establishment into a money-making operations and production environment using world-Class ‘lean’ manufacturing methods”. My initial thrust was to focus on core operational competencies by training and motivating staff at all levels. Teams have been focussed on;- Delivery: Bottleneck removal and an internal customer cell based methodology. - Quality: Creating teams in the clean rooms focussing on mistake proofing, training and problem solving.- Cost Control: Simple standard costing methods introduction highlighting areas of opportunity in set-up reduction, physical layout and WIP reduction.
