Most recently, Bob was the Vice President of Strategic Pursuits at Maxar Technologies (formerly Space Systems/Loral). Prior to that position, he was Vice President of Business Development and Vice President of Systems Engineering at SSL. He has several decades of satellite and telecommunications industry experience. His areas of expertise include satellite design, integration, test, launch, operations, and system engineering. Prior to joining SSL, Bob was the Senior Vice President of Space Systems for ICO Global Communications and for DBSD North America, where he was responsible for the design, procurement, deployment, and operation of the GEO and MEO space segments. The space segment included the satellites, launch vehicles, gateways, satellite control centers, and satellite operations. Prior to ICO and DBSD, he was the Vice President of Space Technology for Teledesic. He also spent 17 years at Hughes Space and Communications where he provided system engineering leadership or served as program manager for several major satellite programs. He led the integration, test, and launch team for the first HS601 satellite, and served as the Deputy Business Unit Leader for Spacecraft Design and Production at Hughes. Bob holds a Bachelor’s degree in General Engineering from the University of Illinois, a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA, and a certificate in Astronautical Engineering from UCLA.
