I’m a friendly experienced and passionate guy who stops at nothing to obtain mortgages for my clients where common sense would suggest someone would lend them money to buy or re-mortgage a property yet often their current mortgage lender or adviser is struggling to help.Mortgage lenders on the face of it seem happy to lend. Yet they don’t always understand the complexity of people’s financial situations and especially that of the self-employed. Even more so in the world we live in now.Why did I use the name Cactus Mortgages? To be honest I just woke up at 3 am on a Sunday morning and it popped into my head! I also wanted to be different from the old fashioned & often staid name, look & feel of most mortgage firms. I have a creative mind when it comes to problem solving so wanted a fresh and contemporary look & feel to the brand.After being inspired watching a marketing video, in October 2019 I decided to create a new niche brand called Japanese Knotweed Mortgages. I formed Japanese Knotweed Mortgages because in the last few years I have come across a number of clients who were buying homes that had or appeared to have Japanese knotweed. The first one I came across was in 2015. At the time I knew nothing about Japanese knotweed apart from knowing the name, so it was a new one on me and a massive learning curve. Having sight of the rather lengthy 48-page report and liaising with the mortgage lender, valuer, the builder, the school on the other side of the boundary and even the firm providing treatment plan to the school enabled me to ensure the purchase completed and my clients moving in to their lovely new home.Since then, I have come across other properties with Japanese knotweed, so my initial experience was invaluable and I have acquired further knowledge and experience since then.
