School Safety Grant provides grants to law enforcement, schools, government, and businesses that utilize ALERT (Active Law Enforcement Response Technology) that integrates security equipment such as cameras, door access, public address systems, and fire alarms so that a law enforcement agency can immediately view cameras on an e-map and operate doors, public address systems, and fire alarms remotely. The software has proven to reduce entry time giving law enforcement valuable actionable intelligence to where the suspect or incident is. ALERT is life saving emergency management technology that has been very well received by law enforcement throughout the country.

Recruited by the CEO due to my extensive experience in security and law enforcement, I prepare comprehensive technical threat vulnerability assessments for school districts, companies, and other institutions and present my recommendations to the C-Suite or the board. Recruited by the SVP of the Law Enforcement Division, I was instrumental in the installation of many of 3SI’s security systems that have proven to be truly instrumental in preventing crime and apprehending criminals. A couple stories will illustrate my point.Nassau County NY had a serial gas station robber who had killed a gas station attendant. The police used the usual strategies of surveillance and appeals to the public, with no success. The robberies continued. I convinced the senior leadership of the department to purchase 3SI devices and install them in gas stations that fit the pattern developed by Intelligence. The installations resulted in the arrest of the perpetrator, proving the system was much more effective than traditional methods.I was able to convince the senior leadership of the New York City Police Department to embrace new technology and utilize it as a strategy to reduce the number of serial robberies of pharmacies in the city. The success of that program expanded to banks, cell phone stores, and other major retailers. There are now thousands of 3SI devices deployed in New York City as a result of my initiative.When it comes to security technology, you need real world experience in order to demonstrate its potential to a police department or client. When I know that a product can assist law enforcement, I have the ability to effectively convey the message of its value based on my law enforcement experience.Besides aiding police departments with their own technology, I also worked with police departments when other entities purchased 3SI solutions, training the police in how to utilize the software so that they would be effective in tracking a robbery suspect in order to make an arrest.

After serving as a Communications Specialist in the Army and then a Correction Officer, I began a 30+ year career in law enforcement and security. In the corrections facility, I developed a great understanding and appreciation of physical and technical security. In the Army, having Top Secret, Crypto, and Atomic clearance, I learned first-hand the need for effective deterrents.In my 32 years in the Suffolk County Police Department (SCPD) I rose through the ranks from a uniform patrol officer to leading various squads and working directly under the Chief of Detectives. I was also script consultant for several episodes of NYPD Blue, which were based on cases I solved. My years of service included:► Narcotics Squad undercover officer► Sergeant supervising 6th precinct Crime Control► Internal Affairs: Investigated allegations against police officers► Detective Sergeant, 3rd Squad Detectives in Bayshore: Supervised successful bi-county task force to apprehend and convict the notorious “South Shore Rapist”; Received the District Attorney’s Award of Excellence for my leadership► Homicide Squad (15 years): Became executive officer; Formulated the Cold Case Murder Team► Electronics Squad Commander: Updated electronic surveillance equipment in the department; Proved that technology was an integral part of investigations and a force multiplier; Expanded the department’s use of GPS for surveillance purposes► Formulated the Major Case Investigations Unit for SCPD, served as first Commander; worked directly under the Chief of Detectives► Instituted and applied for the designation of “US Marshal” of all Major Case Detectives, giving the unit greater crime fighting flexibility► Responsible for the first Suffolk County police detectives being admitted to the Long Island FBI Gang Task Force I never stopped looking for and instituting new ways to solve crimes and safeguard lives, which is why, after I retired, I became a Security Consultant.
