About Bob Harvey

Bob began his fire/emergency services career in 1971 with the California Division of Forestry (now CalFire) operating out of the Amador El Dorado Administrative Unit and was assigned to engines, dozer units, Helitack and was a Heli-Jumper during his seasons with the Division. Entering the U.S. Air Force as a Fire Protection Specialist he was assigned to the United Kingdom where his wildfire skills and knowledge were utilized to train the English Fire Brigades in wildfire strategy and tactics, this utilization was expanded to instruct in Germany and Spain during his assignment in Europe.Bob completed a 25 year career with the Colorado Springs Fire Department as a Captain in June of 2004. During his career with Colorado Springs he was instrumental in developing the cities wildfire response program and the development of a multi department response force to support lands within the city and those lands outside the city of interest to Colorado Springs. The combined response force includes assets from the Fire Department, Parks and Recreation and the Colorado Springs Utilities. Upon leaving CSFD Bob was the Operations Chief for Rampart Fire Services a contract engine company to federal and state fire organizations.Bob is an NWCG ICT-III and in this capacity assumed command from federal agencies such as the USFS on the Mason Fire and the Million Fire in Colorado, as well he has been and ICT-III for fires in New Mexico but is most notably seen on fires across the West as the name requested Structure Protection Specialist and in this capacity has served with all national Type I Teams and all Type II Teams from the Western Great Basin. During Hurricane Katrina, Bob accepted the assignment as Fire Marshall for various relocation sites of displaced residents and facility Emergency Response Chief working with California Team 5 and FEMA assets. Bob has been special ordered to work with Australian Wildfire Command Teams and U.S. military command teams.
