I teach ESl classes to students from abroad, generally university-aged youngsters, largely from Brazil, but also from South Korea, Vietnam, and other countries.

I have been teaching Conversational English freelance for the past five years. I have taught English at all levels of age and language, from beginning English to classes in literature, at all levels, from elementary school to University.I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanistic Psychology, from UC Santa Cruz, and have taken coursework in Education and Educational Psychology.I am looking for a situation in which I could employ my communication and teaching skills. I am fluent in Spanish, although English is my native language. I have extensive teaching experience, having taught all age groups from primary school through adults, in three countries.I have taught English in Universities (in Mexico – see my resume), in public school classrooms, in business settings and privately.I have taught English at all levels – from nuts-and-bolts basic vocabulary and grammar to classes in literature and conversation for highly fluent students.My past employers and students will attest to my dedication and capability, and to the enjoyable and informative manner I have of teaching.I have extensive knowledge of cultural issues, having lived abroad – in Mexico and Argentina – since 1997. I have not only lived as an expatriate, but I have also lived, as far as possible, within the cultures of the two countries and adapted myself to them. In fact, I was married to a Mexican woman, who passed away in 2011, and was responsible for the upbringing of her two children. In Argentina I dedicated much energy and interest to learning as much as I could about the Argentine culture, since Buenos Aires had been a place of fascination for my father, when he was a merchant marine in the 40’s.My fluency in Spanish has made it possible for me to learn much abroad, and the experience enriched me. I feel my experience doing so makes me a good candidate for the job. Having been a wanderer south of the border, I know what is involved finding one's place in a new country.Bob Haskell
