I currently volunteer in education. I am actively involved with the Computing At School (CAS) initiative, as a STEM Ambassador, as a STEM Learning facilitator in the Teachcomputing initiative and as a volunteer Code Club leader.Until recently I spent 8 years as a Governor of a local primary school, a number of which were as Chair.Until 2010 I spent over 4 years on the board of Suffolk Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust as Non Exec Director with my final years as Vice Chair. I was a member of the Audit & Remuneration Committees. This work focused on corporate management with an emphasis on strategy, financial management and operational performance assurance. As a director of an NHS trust I was publicly accountable for the performance of the Trust.I also recently spent 2 years as a Trustee Director of Golf GB Ltd, a not for profit company, running Seckford Golf Club on behalf of it's members. I learnt a great deal about the difference between surviving as a small business and life in a large public sector organisation.For more than 10 years I mentored at a local High School, as part of an education & business link programme.Previously I had 35 years experience across a wide range of roles in the telecomms business within BT. Laterly that work was centred on major outsourcing of telecoms to the government, health and finance sectors. For a number of years I was part of the management team of one of the largest, and most successful, non construction PFI/PPP contracts in the UK.I am a Chartered IT Professional (CITP) and have qualifications in software engineering, management, humanistic counselling and mental health.
