The surface lock-out program has been a part of my scope; by working on updates for the program, building SOP’s and other training materials, maintaining/updating the lockout permits as well as training everyone on the surface operation. I work with our Quality Assurance Department to help maintain our two shipping programs as well as the process engineers to help other departments understand the mill process. I was part of a team that was created to commission the new wet mill and compaction plants for the Colonsay expansion. We also trained the production crews on the operation of the new areas. We developed and carried out plans on how to train the production crews so they could operate the new areas in a safe and efficient manner.

I started as a Labourer and advanced my way through the production areas; including Loading and Switching, Crushing, Wet Mill, Compaction, Reagents and DCC / Flotation. Some of my duties were; monitoring equipment, problem solving issues in the process, making changes to the circuits to improve the performance of the process. I also worked with new operators, mentoring them as they trained in a new area. I was also a relief shift supervisor towards the end of this time.
