Retired in the rank of Captain from the Royal Navy after 36 years’ service from Front Line through HR to Headquarters and ‘back office’ military Support roles. 10 years’ experience as a management consultant covering business change, application of Enterprise Architecture methods, Programme Supportability, Information Interoperability, Quality Assurance, and strategic business guidance.As Head of Integrated Logistics Support (Navy)/Assistant Director Whole Life Support (Navy) in the former Warship Support Agency I had a pan Maritime and Joint responsibility with delegated IAB authority for project scrutiny and approval and provision of advice to senior management on higher cost category project acceptability. In this role I provided the lead on supportability, whole life and total cost of ownership issues and this included provision of 'Red Review' of emerging warship and system designs. Responsibility included the development and introduction of ILS techniques across the maritime equipment programme (including the introduction of RCM methodology) and development of the associated open CAD and Support information standards.Other experience includes:Head of the Marine Engineering Department; HMS INVINCIBLE (aircraft carrier) and HMS BRILLIANT (type 22 Frigate).Strategic management of manpower (Marine Engineering officers and ratings)Management and delivery of Engineer Officer professional training.Lead trials officer in the Royal Navy's Machinery Trials Unit accepting ships systems and machinery from new build and post maintenance, refit or repair.Development and implementation of Enterprise Architecting standards and methods (MODAF), application of Service Orientation to business and IT.I am a Chartered Engineer, Chartered Marine Engineer, Member of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology, Member of the British Computer Society, and Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
