I've been navigating the municipal bond market since college when a family friend at John Nuveen & Company found a spot for me back in the municipal credit research department. There, my fascination with the 50,000 different issuer 1.2 million CUSIP market, began. I have been exploiting the inherent inefficiencies in the non-rated subset of the municipal market since the mid-1990s when we hired an institutional sales team at Raymond James with deep institutional relationships with high yield mutual fund portfolio managers.My Co-Founder and I (we met in Advisory the first day of high school) launched the firm in 2009 to provide investors access to the non-rated municipal bond market that exploded following the demise of monoline insurers during the Great Financial Crisis. We believed combining my municipal market experience with his credit expertise provided an excellent foundation for our new enterprise. Today, we manage client portfolios in non-rated municipal bonds that are designed to generate high levels of tax-exempt income and grow capital. We offer two distinct investment vehicles we believe are ideal structures for the liquidity profile of the asset class.When not scouring the municipal market for off the run gems, I can be found tending to my 30+ year old sourdough starter and working to craft my next loaf of bread. As sourdough bakers can attest, the perfect loaf has not yet, be baked. Naturally, I am also an avid craft brewer, after all, beer is nothing more than liquid bread.
