Power management architecture and system design. I develop definitions, models and specifications for Volterra power management ICs in collaboration with Marketing and IC Designers.

Applications Engineering Manager for Notebook Battery Charger ICs. Manage a small team of Applications Engineers. Define new products and features. Developed reference designs, User interface software, Simulation models, datasheets and applications notes. Support designs at major notebook makers including Apple, Dell, Samsung and many in Taiwan. LCD Backlight inverter system design. Developed the top level IC design and application circuit for a chip set that controls and drives inverters that energize CCFLamps for backlighting LCD displays. The system design was the result of numerous customer visits, review of competitors products and analysis of LCD monitors. I am co-inventor on 5 patents related to CCFL backlight inverters.Digital DC to DC converter. Developed reference designs for a digital DC to DC converter to supply core power to Intel processors. The converter used AtoD converters to sense output voltage and current and digital signal processing to close the loop and control the FET switching in a 6 phase buck regulator. Presented a paper at Power Electronics Technology Conference 2002 (Digital Multi-Phase Voltage Regulator).

Designed power supplies for DSL modems to demonstrate Virata Communications processors. Improvements in power supplies and layout help achieve record high data rates. Developed 3 modems in 9 months. I was the team leader on 2 of these development projects. The modems fit a customer's existing case design, passed FCC and CISPR limits and had 'best in class' data rates. This modem was produced in high volume by our customer with no changes from our design. Designed a multi-output flyback power supply for a Voice Over Internet Protocal (VOIP) demo board that supplied logic power, ringer power and isolated Power over ISDN.

Various assignments designing power supplies and analog circuits for Philips, Magnavox and Sylvania televisions.Designed convergence systems for CRT projection TVs. Performed field tests and demonstrations of the projection TVs in Europe. Designed LCD drive circuits for a Philips VGA/Video projector. Designed equipment and procedures for production adjustments of the LCD drivers.Designed power supplies and CRT deflection circuits in Magnavox, Sylvania and Philco TV. Hold 3 U.S. Patents, for CRT deflection and power supply circuits.
