At ZeroAvia we are building zero-carbon aircraft propulsion systems, based on hydrogen fuel cells.

Developed and built an ultralight glider for soaring in a wide range of conditions. Designed all mechanical parts and the control system. Managed a pre-production shop to build the prototype aircraft. Recently, I have also flown a range of test flights to expand the operating envelope of the aircraft, improve performance, and refine the control harmony.

Since 2006, the ClearPad touchscreen product that my team developed has grown to become the dominant touch solution in mobile phones. Revenues from ClearPad grew quickly to $100M then $1Billion In late 2013, Synaptics launched a new Biometrics Division. As the Director of Architecture for that business unit, I led efforts to launch fingerprint sensing into smart phones. That became a >$100M business in the first year and spawned further technology growth.

The Fannie and John Hertz Foundation is an American non-profit organization that awards fellowships to Ph.D. students in the applied physical, biological and engineering sciences. The fellowship provides $250,000 of support over five years.Once a Hertz Fellow, always a Hertz Fellow. I continue to support the Hertz Foundation's mission with funding and volunteer work.

Designed and Conducted cutting-edge measurements of the surface chemistry, electronic, and optical properties of diamond.

Designed and built a heat-pipe based circuit board for an Air Force SBIR program. Independently invented, developed, and completed the contracted program.

As Staff Scientist, I developed and tested liquid and polymer dielectric materials for high energy-density capacitors. During the four years that I worked on this program, energy densities were increased approximately 100-fold. I had partial responsibility for a group of six technicians in the capacitor and dielectric materials test group. Collaborated with chemists at 3M, Pennwalt, Sandia, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory to develop dielectric materials superior to any then on the market.
