Responsible for Suture production areas consisting of Starts, Packaging, and Ethylene Oxide Sterilization, Print Shop, while driving Materials Management activities for all business units in the plant. Primary objectives consist of maintaining the production schedule, ensuring quality results, and improving profitability in the D Specials, Micro Suture, and Vicryl* franchises. Manage 25 salaried associates in Facilitation, Planning, and Engineering, and over 150 unionized personnel.Implemented CFM projects and productivity improvements which reduced operating costs by more than $2 million, and improved Gross Profit for D Specials from 15% in 1996 to 47% in 1999.Instituted planning and scheduling changes which resulted in customer fill rates of greater than 98%, an 80% reduction in equipment changeovers, a 33% reduction in cycle times, and 15% labor reduction.Developed a Quality Action Plan fwhich resulted in a 30% reduction in non-conformances for the business unit in 1998 and an additional reduction of 33% in 1999. Implemented an Operator Certification Program in the Packaging departments. Accountable for FDA Good Manufacturing Practices/Quality Systems Regulations, ISO 9000 certification and several FDA & ISO audits which resulted in zero audit observations.Implemented raw material procurement plan and designed layout Implemented inventory accuracy program, which increased accuracy from 90% to 99.3%, and eliminated the need for two physical inventories per year.Participated as a member of the Somerville Re-Design Team which formulated a project plan to meet the Somerville Cost Initiative Objectives and meet 1997 Plant Objectives.
