I currently serve as the Chief Financial Officer for Cengage Group, a $1.3B education technology company that serves millions of learners in 165 countries every day. In this role, I am responsible for leading all parts of the company’s finance function, including financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, accounting and control, treasury, tax, internal audit and investor relations. Throughout my career, I have specialized in overseeing complex digital transformations, preparing companies for the business models of the future. I believe the CFO must be an active partner in building, funding, resourcing, and activating corporate strategy. The finance function belongs on the front lines as a critical business partner. Prior to joining Cengage Group, I served as CFO at Callcredit Information Group (CIG), a credit reference agency and risk information solutions business. There I led a complete transformation and modernization of the finance function, including the implementation of Oracle Fusion’s digital cloud platform across finance, HR, and payroll. The company doubled in value over this period and was acquired by TransUnion for £1 billion (~$1.33 billion) in 2018. Prior to that, I held numerous senior financial positions with RELX (formerly Reed Elsevier PLC) including CFO of Elsevier Health Sciences, Director of Business Performance, Director of Business Control and Group Chief Accountant. I began my professional career with Price Waterhouse where I spent 9 years working providing audit and advisory services across a wide range of clients and projects . I earned a degree in physics and microelectronics from the University of Essex and am also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
