Connected installations across the Pacific to the USA through cable and satellite links with new state of the art 19.2kbs backbone, to multi-channel 300 bps units. All connected across the regions by tropo radio or P-P microwave radios to a satellite link. This was the ultimate state of the art in 1985.Also trained personnel in the use of computer systems, set up a remote monitoring system for diagnostics and control.Helped to win new systems and computer maintenance contracts. -
Research & Production EngineerTrw Inc. (Now Ngc) Apr 1979 - Sep 1985Communications Lab (R6) in R&D for GaAs power amplifiers using a flip-chip process. Worked together with MSC in New Jersey to develop the process. Worked on reliability analysis and was responsible for all life testing and reliability testing of GaAs devices, worked with team to develop analysis tools, IR Scans. etc.Fortunate to work with a team under Pete Petrellis, Bob Boozan, Jintendra Goel, Chuck Swift and with Dave Ollson, Harry Hiyoto, Duncan Smith, Ron Clarke.Transfered SSPA module product to production in 1993, worked as transition engineer working with the production line. Trained technicians to tune & test and the assembly staff (gold wire bonding & ribbon tuning) as this was the first time we used GaAs products, especially flip-chip in a production line.

Telphones were legalized to own (previously had to lease from phone company) in 1981, so opened a whole new era in communications for the consumer.Expanded business into digital watches and pens with LCD clocks (big fad at the time) all very new technology in 1981. Business became a supplier for swap meet sellers, department stores. Sold business in 1984 as competiton became fierce.
