As an industrial base principal, I perform industrial base assessments that lead to the development of industrial base strategies and plans for our customers that identify and mitigate industrial base issues/concerns to ensure the industrial base has the necessary capabilities (skills processes, and supply chain) and capacity to meet current and projected demands.

As Director of the Industrial Assessments Division, I was responsible for the management and oversight of defense industrial capabilities and readiness assessments, industrial security and protection, and decision support for industrial and weapon system production issues. Industrial capabilities encompass DoD contractors, commercial contractors, and industrial maintenance and support facilities from which services or products are required to equip and sustain U.S. Military operations. I spent twenty plus years as a senior industrial analyst and engineer within the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy (MIBP).

I began my DoD career at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, where I provided overall reliability and maintainability engineering support to assigned Air Force programs. I spent a year working for the Air Force as a maintainability engineer at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. In May 1987, I came to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) at the Pentagon, as part of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Production & Logistics) where I assessed DoD programs reliability, maintainability, and logistics programs.
