I began my career in automotive at the General Motors Corvette Assembly operation in Kentucky as a member of the Greenfield team, later promoted to a divisional role at headquarters in Detroit. Received Toyota Production System training at the GM/Toyota joint venture operation (NUMMI) in Fremont, California and assigned responsibility to improve end-of-line powertrain and emissions systems validation for GM’s 32 North American assembly plants. In that role was responsible for authoring Divisional Assembly Plant Inspection Process Procedures and Standard Work to assure in-station quality. Through that work developed and deployed a Quality Improvement Plan to reduce GM early mileage powertrain warranty. This led to introducing the first automated roll test inspection system and Real-Time quality feedback process in the automotive industry. The Dynamic Vehicle Test (DVT), still in place today, is recognized as the global standard for validating on-board systems at end-of-line vehicle assembly plants.
