Achievements• Taking project concepts and making them work. It takes vision, drive, good communication, good stakeholder management, good people with a “can do” attitude and lots of personal commitment to “pull” a project through feasibility ready for construction.• Development through to feasibility approval of Maryborough Sugar Cogen - twice. • Optimising the Maryborough Cogen. The redesign included the innovation of electrifying sugar mill drives to maximise MRET renewable electricity produced. This proved a major contributor to the positive project economics.• Development and management through construction of the Rocky Point Cogen Power Project. • Management of the concept, prefeasibility and feasibility studies of the construction and operation of an export coke plant located adjacent to Stanwell Power Station. The scope covered heat recovery power plant design, water supply and disposal, electricity connection agreement, land acquisition, negotiation of commercial agreements, operations costing and management, project and environment approvals, insurance and risk management as well as management of the relationship with the joint study partner. • Approvals for the Coke Project. This included developing and editing the IAS, Terms of Reference and then EIS, the scope of which covered the coke production, power plant and all associated services including flue gas treatment. • Leading the concept and prefeasibility studies of the Blue Scope Steel Co-gen Project in Port Kembla. • Leading the initial assessment of the heat recovery power plant associated with the Boulder Steel project in Gladstone. • Leading the concept studies of other sugar mill co-gen power projects, gas turbine peaking power plants and plantation biomass power plants. • Establishing strong client relationships - questioning and listening to project partners to determine the real project needs.
