My duties at UL Lafayette included responsibility for graduate and undergrad courses in music history. I also served as graduate coordinator for the School of Music and taught its trombone majors. I was a founding member of the university's Louisiana Brass ensemble and performed extensively as a professional trombonist, both in south Louisiana and since retirement, in Pittsburgh. I have published over thirty refereed articles and two monographs, one on the early history of the Pittsburgh Symphony orchestra. Since my retirement from UL in 2001, I have taught as a visiting professor at Chatham University, Duquesne University, the University of Pittsburgh and the Community College of Allegheny County.
