As a lifelong Broward resident, I have served in several business and community leadership roles. Prior to the Alliance, I was President of Champion Manufacturing for 18 years; a Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale based industrial & specialty supply company serving the Southeastern United States. In 1992, during the impact of Hurricane Andrew, I chaired the local Board of the American Red Cross for 2 years. Florida Governors Martinez, Chiles, and Bush have appointed me to lead statewide boards. In November 2012, I returned to the Board of Pilot Commissioners, appointed by Governor Rick Scott.In building an effective and collaborative public/private partnership I serve on several professional & community Boards including Enterprise Florida, NAIOP (Commercial Real Estate Development Association), SFTA (South Florida Technology Alliance), CareerSource Broward, the Broward Education Foundation, and I was recently elected as the 2015 Chairman of FEDC (Florida Economic Development Council). Since October of 2005, I have served on the Florida Atlantic Research & Development Park Authority as an appointee of the Broward County Commission.I’m a 2013 graduate of Leadership Florida Class XXXI (31); a 1986 alumnus of Leadership Broward – Class V (5) and I was honored as a 2011 Business Leader of the Year by the Leadership Broward Foundation. In June of 2013 Governor Rick Scott presented me with the Governor’s Business Ambassador Award at the Annual meeting of Leadership Florida.

The board meets quarterly to consider applications for licensure, to review disciplinary cases, and to conduct informal hearings relating to licensure and discipline. The board engages in rulemaking to implement the provisions set forth in its statutes and conducts other general business, as necessary. The Board's Rate Review Committee establishes the rates of pilotage in each individual port.
