Petronas Carigali took over the operatorship of the Yetagun Field following the divestment by Premier Oil of its share in the joint-ventureship (see below). At the request of Petronas, I agreed to stay with the company and continued in my roles as production controller and commercial lead negotiator with the gas buyer, PTT. I worked together with management and the in-house subsurface team to further enhance field productivity and cash flow. Following several major phases of redevelopment, the field plateau production (DCQ = 400 MMscf/d) was maintained well beyond the contractual commitment. I also trained and mentored local teams of engineers to carry out day to day data gathering and analysis of all aspects of production, including back-allocation to the reservoir, and provided the final QA/QC.Working on the Yetagun Field was a unique opportunity to bring a green-field site into commercial development and then to maximize contractual opportunities through further developments in an operational/commercial role all the way through to the final decline phase of the field.

Following the disbandment of the RDS subsurface team (see below), Premier Oil requested that I continue to work with them in an operational capacity. As production controller, I developed the company's systems and procedures for hydrocarbon accounting while maintaining the company’s reservoir expertise. Furthermore, I developed and directed the relationship with the gas buyer in Thailand (PTT) and held regular meetings to coordinate activities. As the in-house expert on the GSA and related commercial contracts such as the PSC, I led several negotiations when disputes arose and successfully protected the company's position with measurable impacts to the bottom line.

Invited to work as part of an integrated subsurface team to develop a green field gas offshore condensate reservoir (Yetagun Field) on behalf of Premier Oil. The team created a field de-velopment plan while concurrently appraising the reservoir and subsequently increasing the certified reserves by a factor of three, thus leading to substantial increases in gas sales under the terms of the Gas Sales Agreement (GSA).

Worked in-house and externally with a wide client base to perform simulation studies in support of reserves evaluations, stock-market flotations, governmental oversight, conceptual field development studies, gas storage, revitalization of old fields, etc.

Formed a consortium of junior consultant Petroleum Engineers and placed them with a varie-ty of E & P companies to further their professional development and to secure their longer-term prospects during an industry downturn. The company was eventually wound up when it had achieved all of its major objectives.

Requested to undertake a thorough and definitive re-evaluation of the company's major pro-ducing asset. A full field study was implemented and completed within schedule after providing new insights into the field’s behaviour and had a major impact on the company’s future strategy.

Marlow, England

Primarily involved with the evaluation and testing of the Petroleum Engineering and Simula-tion modules of a new integrated software system (Tigress) based on an innovative database technology prior to its first commercial release. Worked together with software engineers to ensure functionality of the system and tested the core simulation code developed in associa-tion with the Atomic Energy Authority (AEA) against standard SPE benchmarks. Continued to develop the product after its initial release and acted as expert customer support as well as contributing reservoir engineering expertise to the consultancy group.

Over seven years varied experience including Reservoir & Production Specialist in China and India, Staff Engineer with special responsibility for Production Logging in the Middle East Headquarters, Base Manager in Saudi Arabia and as a logging engineer in high activity bases in various parts of the Middle East, eventually specialising in all areas of production logging.
