This project was designed to show the reliability and production capacity of this uranium enrichment centrifuge technology. Project was jointly funded as a Government-private partnership. Project completed 11 days early and 10% under budget.

Assigned as a corporate reachback asset to execute several nuclear facility closure projects valued at $245M. Further assigned to lead efforts associated with waste disposal, material recycling, and all operations associated with material shipments. Recruited, trained and assimilated over 150 new personnel to the nuclear industry. Completed eleven high hazard, nuclear D&D sub-projects with zero lost workday events and significant improvement in recordable injury rates. Eliminated ten year backlog of accumulated nuclear waste stored at the site. Increased waste volume shipping rate by over an order of magnitude compared with previous two years.

Responsible for the business strategy and technical approach and execution of this $126M decommissioning and demolition of an Army chemical weapons plant. The Newport Chemical Depot manufactured VX chemical agent. Developed an employee incentive plan that aligned Government, corporate, and individual worker incentives including safety and production. Project achieved VPP Star status, held best safety record in the chemical demilitarization industry and completed the last 12 months with a 0 recordable injury case rate. The $126M project was completed three months ahead of schedule and 305 under cost which maximized employee incentives that averaged 15% of employee wage.

Led DOE’s Yucca Mountain License Application efforts to deliver the License Application to the NRC. The Yucca Mountain License Application was completed in March 2008, tendered to the NRC on June 3, 2008 and docketed on September 8, 2008.Established a business and technical approach that integrated the efforts of three Federal Government agencies and two corporations. Developed a business strategy and technical approach to improve project performance and reduce project and regulatory risk. Tasked development of metrics to demonstrate progress toward license completion.

Assigned as Manager of the Ohio Field Office (Senior Executive Service, SES position) with over 300 employees to complete closure of four nuclear cleanup sites and accelerate closure of one site in New York. Total Project Cost: $2.4 billion, annual funding $550 million per year. Worked with Federal and state elected officials and regulators. Renegotiated the prime contract at Fernald for the Department of Energy and reduced target cost from $2.4 billion to $1.9 billion. Project was completed one month early and $100 million under cost. Selected as Project Management Institute (PMI) Project of the Year 2006. Also completed projects under cost and ahead of schedule at the Mound Closure Project in Miamisburg, OH, the Columbus Closure Project Columbus, OH, and the Ashtabula Closure Project in Ashtabula, OH. Worked jointly with NRC to implement NRC Decommissioning Plans at Columbus, OH and West Valley, NY.Testified to Texas Senate and U.S. Congress staff to obtain storage license for Waste Control Specialists (WCS) to store nuclear byproduct material which provided DOE with a second option for disposal of nuclear material.
