A life-long passion for wildlife and the preservation of species facing increasing threats of extinction, my career has focused on saving threatened and endangered species and delivering responsible stewardship of the natural world. As a senior species conservation and zoological executive I lead U.S. and global teams to transform the zoo and aquarium community’s efforts to end extinction. My work has taken me to the far reaches of the globe creating an ark of sustainable populations through the aid of human care and population management.• A strategic thinker with strong leadership and teambuilding capabilities, I help mission-driven organizations advance and increase their conservation efforts through developing innovative, well-conceived initiatives driving species preservation and recovery. • A scientist at heart and by training, I deliver science-based approaches that produce data driven solutions. My expertise across a wide array of animal species provides me a broad perspective, allowing me to balance stakeholder interests while building coalitions to support animal conservation. • A strong educator on the causes and impacts of lost biodiversity and the strategies to protect and recover endangered species, I have created, organized, developed and taught numerous training programs and academies for volunteers, staff, and the broader conservation community.• Building and cultivating strategic national and international relationships across a wide range of organizations and government agencies, I execute key initiatives in conservation, sustainable population management, and responsible stewardship of human, animal, and financial resources.Currently working at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences with an incredible team of scientists whose expertise ranges from genomics to planetary formation and geology and ancient fossils to living biodiversity.
