My role is responsible for establishing the Peliplat brand in the English speaking market. I manage relationships with local post-secondary institutions, film festivals, and other film-related companies and organisations. Whether it's putting on live events, spreading the word about Peliplat writing challenges, or presenting on what Peliplat is to a new audience - I'm evangelical about spreading the good word that is Peliplat's online community of film and television lovers.

Including developing curriculum, managing the program budget with the accounting department and the human resources department, maintaining the school's industry-standard relevance, and supporting the students in their pursuit of a career in film. A large aspect of the job was also working with student issues. Working with the Head of Student Affairs, I was responsible for meeting with students prior to their start date to discuss academic accommodations if requested. In addition, any issues that arose while students were in the program came to me as well. As the year was a very formative one for so many folks, I dealt with mental health, sexual identity, sexual harassment and assault, as well academic issues with learning difficulties and attendance problems. As HOD I represented VFS as an ambassador for the school at specific outward facing events with educational partners, marketing, and recruitment.As part of the program's marketing and student recruitment activities, I developed and taught filmmaking workshops around the globe. I was also instrumental in the establishment of Shanghai VFS in 2014 and in developing our partnership with DICE in India. Domestically, I also worked extensively in our high school outreach programs and in support of many local film festivals, film competitions, and filmmaking societies. Show less

Originally the role was meant to support the HOD in the program administration, but it soon evolved into a much more expansive position that included many of the responsibilities of the HOD. As the Administrative & Production Manager I oversaw the day-to-day operation of Film Production program. In collaboration with the senior instructors, VFS Administration, and the students, I was also responsible for developing the curriculum, administration, and staffing, coordinating with the accounting department to develop and maintain the programs’ budget, involved in regular meetings to advise admissions, and work with marketing to create promotional opportunities and social media content. Within the program, among the faculty and students, I was very much “the face” of the Film Production program. I dealt with student and staff issues, advised students on career paths, and navigated the program through the COVID-19 pandemic which was a tremendous challenge for such an applied film program. The aim of the program was to train entertainment business professionals for everything from live events to film production, to sports. The program had a heavy emphasis on leadership and management education. As the Program Manager I was responsible for the day-to-day administration of the program. However, due to the timing of my addition, I was heavily involved in the redesign efforts as well. Working closely with the HOD, Jessica Clark-Bojin as well as the senior instructor, Ken Ashdown, I assisted in designing and implementing the core philosophies, new curriculum direction, major projects, and overall culture for the new version of the program. One of my major contributions was in the design and implementation of the Compendium project that had the EBM students producing films with the help of almost all the other VFS programs. However, during my time in this role, I assisted the HOD in redesigning the last 6 months of the program to integrate a streaming model whereby the students could decide to focus on feature film writing or television writing rather than being expected to study both. It’s a model that has persisted to this day.

In 2012 a horror short film I wrote title Fidelium was selected by George A. Romero to win the Bloodshots Canada horror competition. In 2013 another horror short I wrote as an entry into the ABCs of Death search for the 26th Director competition was selected for distribution by Drafthouse Films.
