These markers are shared among the brand managers, sales managers and other individuals to give them the information they need to measure their own performance or that of their teams.Warehouse and delivery issues trackingI have created a database to track issues in delivery and warehouse operations. The database has a series of reports to provide measures of delivery, ordering and delivery exceptions. At Vintage Wines, I functioned as a one man IT department. In this position, I primarily maintained the MAS200/SQL ERP system and created a data warehouse on which I built all of our reporting systems. I was also responsible for maintaining the entire network infrastructure for our executive offices and warehouse. During this time, I purchased and maintained all server and desktop computers and contracted for all printers throughout the company. MAS 200 / SQL ERP SystemThe MAS 200 ERP was our transaction processing system and handled all of our sales, inventory, purchasing and accounts receivable and payables. My job required me keeping it up and running at all times. I worked with a consulting firm to create custom modifications and to keep the system up-to-date and secure.Data warehousing and reporting systemsAll of our companies reporting, whether internal reports for tracking sales performance or monthly supplier reports, was built on top on a SQL data warehouse that I created. The data warehouse was populated with data from the MAS ERP system and updated daily. The data warehouse was modified as needed to extend our capabilities. At the end, the data warehouse was an integral part in creating all of our reporting for supplier depletions, supplier bill backs, customer AR, Illinois liquor taxes and all of our internal sales tracking. The data warehouse was also an intermediate piece in connecting Pocket Advantage, our remote order entry tool, to the MAS ERP system.

Sales analysis and trackingAt Direct Import, I developed reports to track sales performance and provide information regarding a wide number of topics such as inventory, accounts receivable and incentive tracking. Much of what I did was to develop ad hoc queries to provide information to sales and brand management. Web design and developmentThis was the early days of the web! I built a simple website that put Direct Import on the web and provided a web based catalog of all of the products that we carried. The catalog had been developed for print, but I was able to convert most of the content to a format that was easily put online.

I was the wine department manager at Evanston 1st. As manager, I selected the wines that we carried, merchandised them and sold them to customers in the store. I also selected items to be included in weekly newspaper ads, created flyers and catalogs for mailing and organized store tastings. As well as selecting wines, I also approved all of the wholesaler invoices and managed the inventory on hand.Like any retail job, I jumped in where necessary whether that meant ringing up a customer, moving boxes and stocking shelves or carrying something out to a customer’s car.
