HMS is a family of JTRS SDR (Software Defined Radio) sets supporting NSA Type 1 and Type 2 security networked communications. Wrote DOD artifacts. Developed Derived Requirements based on higher level requirements and engineering expertise. Formally Tracked Requirements with Rational tools to demonstrate the complete flow from original customer requirements, through successive levels of requirements decomposition, to the software/hardware configuration item level, then back up the thought the levels of test procedures – to formally insure customer requirements and regulations are complied with. Developed Use Cases UML.Wrote MIB-ICD (Management Information Base – Interface Control Document) defining external SNMP interface to HMS sets. Wrote the System-IDD (Interface Definition Description), describing internal interfaces between the HMS core and applications. The MIB-ICD and System-IDD provide the interfaces to the HMS Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).Wrote the Software sections of Platform Integration Guide. This led to rapid product standardization and meeting federal requirements.• Reduced customer complaints in Provisioning/Database area from 40% to 6% of total customer complaints. Developed tools to automatically examine and analyze all items in databases, uncovering database corruptions. Developed additional tools to isolate specific software causing corruption.• Developed software to identify and eliminate memory leaks. This eliminated system crashes that were delaying customer roll out.• When customer halted delivery of our products until 29 issues were resolved, worked with the customer’s field organization to provide procedural work-arounds without software changes, and identified three key issues that cost less than $400K to correct. This saved AG substantial money compared with $11M plan provided by marketing and allowed us to resume delivering eight months sooner.• At customer request, analyzed all error messages generated GTD-5s (telephone switches serving 20 million subscribers). Identified changes that reduced error messages (nationwide) from over 1 million per day to 15,000.
