Sanctuarium is a non-profit organization that is pioneering an innovative model of asylum advocacy by integrating individuals with both legal and expert witnessing training into a single direct service provider to ensure the best chance of success for our clients. Our Board Members remain committed to working with other non-profit organizations and state actors to ensure a holistic approach to providing care and resources to asylum seekers.

As a lead instructor, I taught STEAM courses to K-12 students across the greater Long Beach area. Collaborating with a team of instructors, I designed and implemented lesson plans in partnership with organizations such as the 100 Black Men of America, The Salvation Army, and The Boys and Girls Club. I represented Shared Science at a number of public outreach events at the Columbia Memorial Space Center, Wonder Woman Technology Expo, and several Science Nights at local schools and colleges. For three consecutive years, I was the lead instructor for our annual Tech Week summer program, an all-girls STEAM camp with lessons that focused on the achievements of women in science. I created Maker Space lessons and provided hands-on, project-based learning activities that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. These lessons involved the use of tools, materials, and technology to design and create projects, allowing students to explore STEAM concepts in an interactive and practical way. To ensure a successful classroom environment, I aided in the onboarding and training process for new instructors and class aides.

During my tenure as the Board Member of Education, I contributed to strategic planning, provided oversight for program development, and ensured alignment with organizational goals. I collaborated with team members to create Science, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) curriculum following Next Generation Science Standards and California Standards for the Teaching Profession. Additionally, I developed educational materials that incorporated culturally relevant subjects to reach a diverse group of students and learning needs.
