My experience at Macgregor Smith entailed working on more than 10 projects spread across the UK and China. Primarily, I was involved in preparing planning information for outline and detailed planning applications and for tender and construction packages. Having worked on stages 2 to 6 of the RIBA 2015 Plan of Works, I gained valuable experience in the understanding of different procurement processes, programming and project management. I have expanded my skillset in designing large masterplanning projects and public spaces in the urban landscape. Furthermore, I gained knowledge and experience in planting design, supported through several study trips and nursery visits.

Whilst working with Mark Merer, I had the chance to work on my first large masterplan, based in Chickmagalur Karnataka, Southern India. I helped build a 2x2m 1:100 physical model of the development as well as completed CAD drawings for initial planning application. I also worked on completing a 3d model of Ferrum House. This is a four bed residential property in Bruton constructed out of SIP panels and cladded with timber and corten.

During the three months of practical placement, I was involved in 6 different architecture projects. I undertook a variety of projects on different work stages.The experience was invaluable as I learned a great deal about office structure and communicating with clients.

I was involved in creating a database website containing an overview of activities related to Sustainability and Social Responsibility for the Univeristy of Bath. In addition to this, I updated the university 3d model and designed visuals and signposts that were later installed on the university campus.

My first position in an architectural studio in my native Bulgaria introduced me to the office structure of architects and engineers working together. My work involved mainly computer drafting, model-making, site visits and office administration.
