Making Waves Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1989, which is responsible for management and strategic planning, oversight, and external affairs regarding the development initiatives to best support Making Waves Academy and our College & Alumni Program. The Foundation has focused increasingly on expanding the reach of Making Waves to ensure that more young people in the Bay Area can benefit from its programs and services. It is also working to ensure that other communities nationwide can adopt its model or strategic approach, learn from its work, and expand partnerships that make student success more attainable for a broader range of students.

This position is responsible for overseeing and implementing the fundraising strategy, which includes individual giving program, foundation and government grantwriting and event planning. Experience with events that include MCLE, continuing legal education credits. As a member of the Management Team, I assist with organizational oversight, prepare department work plan and budget, and work with the Board of Directors to develop, implement and evaluate CRPE's efforts to generate restricted and unrestricted funds to fulfill our mission. I oversee the Communications strategy, including media outreach and promotion, and creating external communications materials. In addition, I supervise department staff.

San Francisco Bay Area

Held a key programmatic position overseeing projects that focused on environmental food issues and alliance building, including incubation of a network to support a California food policy council and a statewide project that connected recipients of food stamps with a network of farmers markets. Oversaw the California Farmers Market Consortium, a statewide partnership of 12 partner organizations in 17 counties creating greater access to healthy fruits and vegetables to SNAP recipients (food stamps) through farmers markets, which was essential to the food system reform work Roots of Change is doing. Was instrumental in connecting a vast network of people representing different sectors of food and agriculture, and successfully increasing revenue for small farmers and healthy food access to under-resourced communities throughout the state. Was also the lead development staff person and grant writer, and successfully funded the Consortium from government and foundation grants.
