Identify and estimate cover of understory vegetation according to established protocol. Identify and measure DBH of selected overstory trees

Develop research protocol for and conduct analysis of 50 Wisconsin community comprehensive land use plans for their content related to groundwater quality. Present results in articles and website for local officials and water resource professionals.

Write and design website educating public and local officials about forest conservation tools for use in local land use plans. Conduct interviews and write case studies about forest conservation tools. Present material at conferences and workshops. Develop training workshops for Basin Educators and other UW-Extension staff. Organize and facilitate advisory committees. Write grant to fund second phase of project. Track timeline and budget and report to Wisconsin Environmental Education Board.
