I am a retired Navy veteran who feels the two most existential crises we face today are human nutrition and planetary health. Despite great overlap between these issues, very little emphasis is placed on understanding the impacts of our everyday food choices on the environment and the lives of those who are exploited to satisfy them. As a career changer, I aspire to better position myself to advocate for more transparency in how our food is produced and the ‘true costs’ that are associated. Of great concern to me, is the animal suffering, human injustice, and environmental pollution that is so prevalent in the factory farming of animals. I wish to use research-based evidence and real-world experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to help those interested in transitioning from the standard American diet to a whole food plant-based lifestyle do so in a way that is both safe and sustainable for themselves and the planet.As a mom and global citizen, I feel compelled to bring greater awareness to the benefits of eating only plants for both humans and Earth, the only home we have.
