As the Department Coordinator, I am responsible for managing various operational aspects, including preparing monthly schedules, bimonthly status and sweep reports, and facilitating weekly sweeps on Care Extenders. I coordinate rescheduling for absences and additional shifts, as well as manage mid-rotation meetings and department training. Additionally, I maintain regular communication with Care Extenders, respond to quality control reports, and ensure compliance with protocols for absences and required documentation. My role involves distributing forms, conducting follow-ups, and training new Care Extenders to ensure smooth departmental functioning.

Observed basic medical procedures such as IV changes, blood withdrawal, and medication administration. Assisted nurses and care partners with tending to patients (feeding, restock of personal protective equipment, transporting, and cleaning). Learned efficient bedside manner while interacting with patients, patient families, and caretakers. Customer service duties included managing phone calls from families, departments, and nurses.

Currently, I conduct research under the supervision of Dr. Patricia Phelps, the Vice Chair of Undergraduate Education for the Department of Integrative Biology & Physiology.Project: Explore the role of the Reelin pathway in the development of olfactory epithelium in Reeler and knockout mice using immunohistochemistry.
