Until recently, I updated and maintained a large homegrown Student Infomation System developed with Progress OpenEdge SmartObjects. This role worked with internal business users, outside vendors, and government agencies to support the needs of the business. I was part of the go-live team and continued that work into product maturity. Team members know me as a forward-thinking engineer who solves problems with innovative ideas. I develop strong relationships with my team and clients, and approach situations with a ‘how can I help’ attitude. I’m happy to support my team in whatever way is needed to be successful, whether that is pinch-hitting for QA or picking up BA work; team success is always a priority that I strive for.As a remote engineer, I can be trusted to work independently and make deadlines. Though remote, team collaboration is something I facilitate by building strong relationships, keeping open communication, understanding my team members strengths and weaknesses and remaining open minded to other ideas.When working with users, the ability to understand and translate technical information to relatable examples has allowed me to create strong connections to the user base. As an approachable engineer, business users often request mini department trainings from me. I work to understand how the user base utilizes the product and this allows the information to be tailored to what works best for them. A popular information session has been my ‘Tips and Tricks’ presentations, I often hear feedback that working with clients to learn small, but powerful system usability techniques significantly increase their productivity.
