Chief Operating Officer for the Y of Central Maryland since 2002 overseeing day-to-day operations for the Association. The Y of Central Maryland has over 2600 employees, serves Baltimore City and the five surrounding counties, has over 100,000 members, impacts over 165,000 people per year, operates in over 100 locations and has a $57 million operating budget. He has 30 years of experience in the health promotion, wellness and rehabilitation industry and has been a successful leader in numerous executive positions including the Central Florida YMCA and Winter Park Health Foundation. As Founder and President of Professional Fitness Systems, Inc his clients included the United States Senate, Delaware Gov. Michael N. Castle, The Delaware State Police as well as Fortune 500 companies such as DuPont and Textron. In 1991 he sold Professional Fitness Systems to Health Fitness Corporation and served as Vice President through 1994. Health Fitness Corporation is now the largest Fitness Management company in the world operating over 400 sites. He is Past Chair for the National Board of Directors for the Medical Fitness Association, from which he was honored for Distinguished Leadership in 1996. He is the immediate past-Chair for the Board of Baltimore Medical System, which is the largest network of Federally Qualified Health Centers in Maryland. Additionally, Bob serves on the Salisbury University Foundation Board, the Board of the Corey Gilger Foundation, the American Council on Exercise Industry Advisory Panel and is an advisory board member for The Susan P. Brynes Health Education Center. He is a Fellow of the Association for Worksite Health Promotion and the Medical Fitness Association. He has written numerous articles on health promotion for journals, newspapers and magazines and is the co-author of Health and High Performance (Kendall/Hunt Publishing).
