AIAG is the Automobile Industry Action Group that represents all companies and government agencies with a stakeholder interest in the Automotive Industry to streamline industry processes via global standards development & harmonized business practices.Member of AIAG Materials Management Steering Committee 2003 to 2010. Focus on industry standards and strategic direction for material control and reporting processes for production parts within automotive suppliers.Member of AIAG Supply Chain Steering Committee 2010 to present. Focus on strategic issues relating to an efficient supply chain within the automotive OEMs and their suppliers.

In 1989, we were implementing barcode-based inventory control systems for medium to Fortune 500 automotive suppliers and manufacturers. To reflect our business focus, we adopted the new trade name of "Barcode Data Systems".We became active in the Auto Industry Action Group (AIAG), which led to the development of the SPEDE System, introduced in 1993 as a 22-plant installation for a Tier 1 automotive supplier. SPEDE was designed as a labeling and scanning system that would enable suppliers to benefit from their compliance with AIAG labeling and shipping/ASN requirements. We also set a new IT industry standard, as SPEDE was the first data collection system to control both the RF and hard-wired networks via one PC, eliminating the need for costly PC LANs.Our product name "SPEDE" is an acronym for Scanning Platform for Electronic Data Entry. In 2004 we changed our name to SPEDE Technologies as we had become more known by our product name.
