My work revolves around protecting public health as the program coordinator for the region's recreational water monitoring program; monitoring the influence of municipal effluent on the environment as a field technician; and working through new and historical data through the use of MATLAB and Python scripting.

Project management, boat lead, and report writing for the Burrard Inlet Water Column program. Monitoring of ambient and receiving environment sites in Burrard Inlet with the primary objective of capturing the initial dilution zone of the Lions Gate Wastewater Treatment Plant. This is done with a Seabird Scientific CTD and Niskin carousel with live feed.

Water sampler for the Recreational Water Monitoring Program. Began training and integrating myself into the roles as detailed in the Environmental Monitoring Technician position.

Organized and led SCUBA trips, helped with classes and other in-shop tasks.

Pakhomov Lab

Research assistant funded by a Science Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) grant. Primary duty was the processing of fishery (primarily salmonid) samples for biometrics, biological and chemical analyses. Other duties included tasks typical of a biological oceanography lab.

Parfrey And O'Conner Labs

Researching the microbiome of seagrass and associated invertebrates via DNA extraction, amplification, and sequencing in addition to various behavioral and physiological experiments of Idotea resecata.

University Of British Columbia

Overnight counselor for international kids camp held at UBC. Took care of children ranging from ages 7-17.

o Care, maintenance, and responsibility of 16 000 gallons of marine and freshwater systems and a dozen reptile habitatso Received and acclimated shipments of livestock and plantso Front of house duties including: opening and closing, cashier, greeting, maintaining the appearance of the store, and helping customers find appropriate products for their needso.

 Provided advice and information to customers on varying aspects of care for reptiles, amphibians, insects, aquatic plants, and tropical, marine, and cold-water aquatic livestock Netted and bagged live purchases. Maintained the appearance of the fish room and all care of livestock (feeding, treatment, water changes, etc.).

Planned for activities, field trips, games, and songs to be done during the camp. Interviewed and recruited volunteers. Organized a volunteer and parent orientation. During the camp, was responsible for the supervision of forty kids ranging from ages 4-13 and the management of the volunteers.
