I am a graduate of the University of Strathclyde in Biochemistry and Pharmacology working career in the life sciences. I have nearly 3 years of GMP experience, firstly in biomanufacturing before embarking on a role in analytical chemistry and immunology where I've gained extensive experience in capillary electrophoresis, IEF, UV-vis spectrophotometry and ELISAs.University lab work covered aseptic technique, pipetting, several assays (including a number of ELISAs and gene expression assays), Western blotting, SDS-PAGE and column chromatography. Extensive workshops and lectures in chromatography expanded my knowledge of protein purification methods.My honours year project involved examining the localisation of NSG2, a protein of interest in elucidating the molecular mechanism of lithium in treating patients with bipolar disorder. I have hands on experience with using in vivo models to investigate the pharmacological properties of novel compounds. Further, I completed the Home Office required personal licence training and I am qualified to apply for a PIL (A/B) to work with animals in research.
