For as long as I can remember I've had a love for making things and telling stories. In high school I started by learning how to capture images that meant something through photography. I found a love for entrepreneurship and learned I could make money doing the things I loved.I started my first company in 2017 (Bobby Housel Photo/Video, a photo/video production company) and have been obsessed with the "entrepreneurial ethos" since. To me, entrepreneurship is just a word that describes someone who relentlessly chases what they care about until they find a way to do it for a job. It's less about never working for someone and more about being a self starter and dream chaser dead set on changing the world.Since going to college I've learned what it takes to run a successful company. I've led and scaled teams, designed products and communities that positively impact peoples' lives, learned to sell, and driven as much impact as I can.I took a decentralized community of hundreds of entrepreneurs and creatives audaciously chasing their dreams at University of Michigan and systematically broke down the silos between them. Entrepreneur Power Hour was a community I founded and scaled at University of Michigan (and later Stanford) to combat the separated nature of the most impactful world changers innovating and creating at college. We took the traditional college "club" and turned it on its head to create a community that allured top founders, creatives, and world changers to come together and create real connectivity amongst each other. We took that to the next level when founding, Founder's Cupid, a company that tried to build on that community by connecting the top 5% of college startup founders nationwide. Founder's Cupid attempted to step in where colleges come up short and provide valuable accelerator like resources to quickly scaling college startups. Founder's Cupid started an angel syndicate and syndicated a $190,000 pre seed SPV check into one of its college community founders while building out other accelerator resources for college founders.All the while I've continued to explore my love for creating things, seeking truth, and telling stories. I published my 1st book, Dreamers in a Drift State, in September of 2022 and hope to continue to tell stories that make people feel something.These days I've transitioned into an advisory role to Entrepreneur Power Hour and Founder's Cupid as I begin to learn what it takes to become a professional investigative journalist and full time storyteller.Reach me @: bhousel@umich.edu | 440-221-8719
