African Leadership is a Christian education and development organization that trains pastors and church leaders in Africa and supports development projects in their communities. Currently, African Leadership is training approximately 13, 000 students in twenty-three countries.Summary of Achievements:• Development of a strategic ministry plan resulting in an intentional change in philosophy of ministry and clarity of how to achieve the mission of African Leadership in measurable terms.• Re-engineering the organizational culture from a silo culture to a culture of increased trust and collaboration. • Development and implementation of an employee’s manual. • Introduction of management a system is that based in a culture of accountability with commitment to key results that are monitored by means of key performance indicators. • Updating of financial policies and procedures to meet the standards of compliance set by the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability. • Development and implementation of an integrated project management system.• Development and implementation of a quantifiable impact assessment toolkit for the pastor training ministry. • Development and implementation of an asset based community development engagement toolkit • Development and implementation of the Adizwa child/family sponsorship program benefiting 500+ children in a pheri-urban community in Malawi. • Initiation of an E-Reader pilot project, to test the educational, economic value as well as the environmental durability of using E-Readers in training of church leaders in Africa. • Sustained growth in the number of pastors been trained in Africa. • Development and implementation of an integrated fund raising management model. • 421% increased revenue from foundations.

Malawi

Together Ensuring Children’s Security (TECS), a Malawi-based NGO, focused on the reduction of child labor in rural agricultural communities by addressing social and poverty drives of child labor. Summary of Achievements: • Developed a “shamrock” partnership structure to address the primary poverty drivers of child labor in the agriculture sector of Malawi, namely food security, education, safe water/sanitation and health. • Secured project funding in excess of US$ 6 million from church organizations, private-sector, international donors and the Global Fund. • Established a corporate membership of 16 multinational companies that provided core administrative funding to TECS as part of their company’s corporate social investment. • Implemented food security, educational, safe water/sanitation, and health & HIV/AIDS interventions. Positively affecting the lives of 85,000 people and decreasing child labor by 22%. o Food security projects established in 191 villages.o Increased student enrollment by 1,197 by improving the quality of education in 39 schools o Providing safe water within 500 meters of households in 106 villages o HIV/AIDS youth clubs in 20 schools, outreach mobile clinics that treat 600 patients a week and building of a health center that treats an average of 130 patients per day. • In collaboration with the Malawi Bureau of Standards developed and registered a Social Responsibility Requirement Standard for Combating Child Labor (MS 700:2002). • Initiated the launch of the Malawi Chapter of the UN Global Compact • Chaired of the National Child Labor Steering Committee. that develop the National Action Plan on Child Labor for Malawi. This was done in collaboration with child rights organizations, ILO/IPEC and UNICEF.
