CurrentI oversee the safe navigation of the dredger and plan and execute dredging operations in compliance with navigational charts, regulations, and project specifications.I monitor and adjust the vessel’s position and heading during dredging to maintain accuracy and manage anchor handling and positioning when necessary.I ensure compliance with maritime laws, environmental regulations, and dredging permits and conduct regular safety drills (e.g., man-overboard, fire, and evacuation drills) for the crew.I enforce adherence to the company’s safety management system (SMS) and international safety standards along with maintaining updated documentation and certifications for the vessel and crew.I ensure environmental protection measures are followed, including managing spoil disposal in designated areas.I oversee the operation of dredging equipment, including cutter, or bucket mechanisms and report and document any mechanical issues or damages, ensuring timely repairs.I inspect the hull, dredging gear, engines, and other critical systems regularly and maintain up-to-date maintenance logs and records.I liaise with port authorities, project supervisors, and other vessels to ensure smooth operations and prepare and submit daily or periodic reports on dredging progress, fuel consumption, and incidents.I communicate any delays, hazards, or accidents promptly to relevant stakeholders and act as the primary point of contact between the dredging project’s management and the vessel’s crew.I represent the vessel during inspections or audits conducted by regulatory authorities or clients.
