Spirit of Portland, Independent Spirit Award and Lowenstein Trust Award recipient, Bobby Fouther is a second-generation visual and performing artist and native Oregonian.Bobby Fouther's career spans over fifty years of artistic expression in the Northwest. Filling the roles of producer, director, performer, designer, exhibitor and teacher, his work has influenced thousands of students, peers and audiences in communities throughout the United States. For many years, this former Portland State University faculty member and Oregon Ballet outreach instructor used his love for dance to spread the joy of cultural movement throughout the northwest. Currently Mr. Fouther shares his passion with students as a guest instructor for BodyVox Dance Center and Artistic Director of Afro/KidWorks in Portland, Oregon. Mr. Fouther has served as an artist-in education for statewide artist residency programs. He has served in many capacities on programs sponsored by the Oregon, Washington and Idaho Arts Commissions and the National Endowment for the Arts. Mr. Fouther has also shared his expertise on curriculum development committees for the Children’s Museum, The World Affair’s Council of Oregon, Portland Public Schools and White Bird Dance.

CuratorBlack Diamond Society / Artists Collective 2011 - PresentP.O. Box 9191, Portland, OregonMr. Fouther's paintings, graphics and photography have shown in many locations in Oregon since 2010. City Hall, Concordia University, Artists Repertory Theatre and Portland Center Stage are some of the highlights. He also has a commissioned work (2012) in the Portable Works Collection of the Regional Arts & Culture Council of Portland, Oregon. Mr Fouther also has 3 works in the Regional Arts and Culture Council's 2020 Visual Chronicle of Portland collection. 2020 also provided him with a commission of "Miss Nina's Moods" metal print for the lobby of the Metropolitan Group’s Public Will Building in downtown Portland, Oregon. In 2023 Mr. Fouther was selected to showcase his work in the Black Artists of Oregon exhibition at the Portland Art Museum in Portland, Oregon.Bobby mentors local and international artists and curated group shows for the Open Door Gallery which he established in 2011.In 2022 He created the Black Diamond Society / Artists Collective to continue his creative work in community.
