In this role, I was the project owner for the data science contribution to Charter's mobile rollout strategy project. As such, I was tasked with the retrieval, manipulation, and interpretation of their mobile customer data to produce insights on where infrastructure improvements could and should be made.My day-to-day tasks included data retrieval and ETL process development on event level data streams in a spark environment. My contributions to the code base were part of a mono repository which were subject to regular code reviews and version controlled using git. All of my ETL and data cleansing steps, largely written with scala, were performed on a cluster and submitted through spark jobs. My data analysis jobs were either implemented with spark's ml-lib on the cluster or with R/Python locally, size permitting.Additionally, I was expected to communicate regularly with my direct technical supervisor regarding project development as well as with the non-technical stake-holders about key take aways. This required regular meetings with senior directors up to vice presidents.During my contract period, our team was recognized by the vice president of product development for outstanding work and contributions to what will be the next key to success for Charter. My direct contributions included the delivery of spatial distributions of characteristic cellular usage, visualizations of these distributions, assessment in confidence in the estimates, and final recommendations on which markets to focus on for maximum return on investment.
