Bobby Rettew is an award-winning storyteller, educator, business owner, husband, and father who lives in the heart of downtown Anderson, SC with his wife Sarah, daughter Rose, and twin boys George and Henry. Bobby and Sarah are raising their family with a commitment to public education, the arts, and service to the community where they reside.Bobby is the owner of Rettew Creative; a storytelling and communications agency focused on stories of grant-making, healthcare, higher education, housing, literacy, health disparities, and the rural church. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Teaching and a Master of Arts in Professional Communications from Clemson University.Bobby's early career as a journalist took him all over the country serving WSPA-TV, KPHO-TV, and WCNC-TV where he traveled domestically and internationally to cover local, regional, and national stories including John Glenn's return to space, Billy Graham's last crusades, border migration while traveling with Coyotes across the southern border, Senator John McCain's first presidential campaign, and Hurricane Katrina. His career has awarded him numerous Associated Press, Regional Emmy's, and Arizona and South Carolina broadcasting awards.Bobby has served Clemson University and Anderson University as an educator since 2009. He most recently accepted the position of Assistant Professor of Communication at Anderson University as a Professor Of Practice. Bobby is able to bring the business and non-profit community inside Anderson University, providing communication students an opportunity to serve the community with client-based projects.Bobby also serves as vice-chair of Anderson County's Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC). Anderson County's CJCC exists to drive sustainable, data-driven improvements to Anderson County’s criminal justice system, thereby improving public safety and community well- being.Bobby's personal and professional journey has exposed him to countless diverse communities and populations, increasing his desire to learn more. His goal is to serve the community by telling more stories of equity, increase community conversations around diverse thought, educate and empower the next communication leaders, and raise his children to create generational change.
