The Palm Springs Human Rights Commission was established on October 21, 1992, with a mandate to promote and protect the diversity of our community and to enforce human and civil rights, provide public education, and issue policy recommendations on civil and human rights. To further the mandate, the commission advises and makes written recommendations to the mayor, city council, and city manager concerning the implementation of programs and practices deemed by the commission to be necessary. In addition to serving as a Commissioner of the Palm Springs Human Rights Commission, Mr. Rimas serves as its Equity & Social Justice Liaison.

As a member of the UCLA Lambda Alumni Association Board of Directors, assist with the day-to-day affairs of the association which includes providing networking opportunities for alumni and students, raising scholarship funds, and putting on various events. Spearheaded the April 2019 UCLA Lambda LGBTQ+ Alumni Association (Lambda) Gala Brunch that recognized Lambda’s accomplishments, raised scholarship funds, and recognized alumni who have gone on to become prominent community leaders. In May 2021, appointed to the UCLA Alumni Diversity Advisory Committee (DAC) as a UCLA Alumni Lambda Representative.

Publicized UCLA Pilipino Alumni Association programs, events, activities, and promoted the organization to the UCLA campus, community, and the media. Managed the Public Relations Committee that supported marketing and communication efforts for the association, its programming, and its successes. The Public Relations Director oversaw the coordination of newsletters throughout the year to respective communities. In the role of Benefit Committee Chair, managed the Benefit Committee that oversaw the planning and marketing of the 2018 UCLA Pilipino Alumni Scholarship Champagne Brunch Benefit that recognized community leaders, scholarship recipients, and raised thousands of dollars in pledges for the UCLA Pilipino Alumni Endowment that supports the UCLA Pilipino Alumni / Lovell Sevilla Scholarship Program.

In addition to the annual tailgates, networking mixers, educational seminars, and beach parties, oversaw one of the organization's largest annual scholarship benefits at UCLA and the distribution of 18 scholarships including the association's first-ever LGBT Pride Scholarship. Also involved with the first-ever Filipino American Film Festival at UCLA (co-founded by UCLA Pilipino Alumni and Samahang Pilipino at UCLA) and obtained U.S. Congressional Special Recognition that was bestowed upon the UCLA Pilipino Alumni Board of Directors for 2 consecutive years.
