Bobby T. Rimas is an Associate Professor at California State University, Los Angeles and an Adjunct Faculty Member at the University of La Verne. He is also a Paralegal for a Downtown Los Angeles law firm that specializes in complex litigation matters. He is the author of the Professional & Ethical Liability chapter of the National Association of Legal Assistants' (NALA) Certified Paralegal Exam Fundamentals textbook and several social justice articles. In 2023, the Palm Springs City Council appointed Mr. Rimas as a Commissioner of the Palm Springs Human Rights Commission where he was elected in 2024 by the Commission to serve as its Equity & Social Justice Liaison.Mr. Rimas served as the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Pilipino Alumni Association's President/Chair, Scholarship Director and Public Relations Director. In 2018, he was elected Board Member of the UCLA Lambda Alumni Association and serves as its Diversity Advisory Committee Representative. In 2020 and 2021, he served on NALA's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Committee. In 2023, he was appointed Chair of Stonewall Democratic Club's DE&I Committee where he formerly served as Vice Chair for 2 years. In May 2024, he was elected Vice President of DE&I for the Stonewall Democratic Club.Mr. Rimas was elected to and served 6 terms as President of the Los Angeles Paralegal Association (LAPA), one of the largest paralegal associations in the United States. He also served in other LAPA positions such as Executive Vice President and NALA Liaison. He was awarded the 2013 NALA Affiliate Award "For outstanding contributions to the advancement of the paralegal profession." During his tenure as LAPA President, LAPA was awarded NALA’s Making a Difference Award for its pro bono, community service, scholarship, and educational programs. In 2017, he received LAPA's Outstanding Leadership Award.Mr. Rimas earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from UCLA, a Paralegal Certificate in Litigation/Corporations from UCLA Extension, a Master of Legal Studies degree, cum laude, with a Compliance and Legal Risk Management Concentration from the University of Arizona James E.
