Due to poor rural internet adequate for work from home I implemented a Wireless Internet Solution suitable for my needs. Once my neighbors saw the vastly improved internet experience we formed "Friends With Bandwidth, LLC" to improve the lives of others in the community.

Establishing large scale cloud customer relationships to meet the customer short and long term IT infrastructure needs. Translate customer solution roadmap to product deliveries either from existing or define new server and storage systems from the ground up.

In the ever expanding buildout of Cloud Infrastructure Dell has formed Data Center Solutions (DCS) to supply the world's largest cloud providers infrastructure needs. This group has grown tremendously by providing the best in class server, shared infrastructure, and network solutions tailor made for each customer's requirements. We start with the customer needs and fit the product rather than lead with product. My role in this dynamic growth organization is to scan the future and current technologies to provide best in class solutions encompassing all aspects of data center model, network topologies, down to optimal commodities. My primary duty is architecting the next cloud solution for purchase orders typically in 10's or 100's of millions of dollars enabling our sales force. In support of customer TCO improvements I have personally driven power improvements of greater than 30% over the whitebox server designs.

Manager of an engineering group responsible for PCB development of Dell’s next generation SAS/SATA host bus adapters (with both hardware and software RAID capabilities,) SAS/SATA storage enclosure that established an industry standard storage bridge bay architecture, Dell Remote Access Card that provides management of the server through Ethernet and Serial interfaces, provide design input into all Server motherboards for both internally and OEM designs. As the technical leaders in the organization this team provides the silicon engineering relationship with suppliers such as Intel, LSI, Broadcom, Xilinx, Altera, Hitachi, etc. We are validation partners with Intel for chipset and CPU Server applications.

Manager of rack server sustaining team with responsibility of 7 simultaneous shipping platforms and add-in RAID host bus adapters. This accounts for the majority of volume for the server organization. The team is the technical escalation path to root cause and providing corrective action for any field, factory, supplier, or extended customer’s needs. In the past, the team also delivered Product Test for Server revisions, PWA/PWB supplier oversight for all of servers and storage as well as component engineering. When assigned responsibility of the group in May of 2001, the team was considered “broken” with regards to focus on quality and driving initiatives to achieve the quality goals of our servers. Established metrics and processes to achieve goals while developing a lead engineer from the group along with my ready replacement.

Staffed group and inspired team to innovate, incorporate, and produce winning designs in a joint development model within accelerated timelines. Performed competitive branding, positioning, and business case analysis with members of the marketing organization. Represented Dell in levels of negotiation with vendors, OEMs, and internal teams. Highly developed problem solving and analysis skills.

Selected to staff and manage teams to deliver OEM rebranded 1U and 2U rackable appliance servers, provide sustaining support, product test, and system test capabilities to new Internet Appliance Server Products line of business. Delivered first Internet Appliance Server Product to market for Dell. Managed multiple programs and areas successfully. Managed cross-functional development efforts through conception, planning, implementation, and sustaining. Put into place best practices for the rebranding, test, and sustaining group with all new employees to Dell.

Allocated personnel and equipment resources that provided product refresh features and sustaining support for up to four shipping and five non-shipping servers simultaneously. Became lead engineer in a short time from a different industry. Took over much of the manager responsibilities as a precursor to my own engineering team manager position.

Lead hardware designer of various subsystems and improvements of an Ion Implanter including wafer handling electronic servo controls, charge control feature, customer specials, and cable harness projects. Designed and placed into production a multi-axis DC motor driver chassis with integrated power supplies, servo amplifiers, sensor conditioning, device protection, and diagnostic LED’s on multi-layered boards. Characterized open loop system response, simulated design with SPICE and implemented an analog control loop for a charge control feature. Project manager and technical lead in outsourcing cable harness design with over 200 individual cable assemblies for a new model ion implanter. Extensive consideration in transmission line physics was applied to deliver a safe grounding system that allows the distributed controllers within the ion implanter to withstand up to 250 kV arcs without interrupting their operation. Corrected software bugs in C/C++.

Utilized error budget analysis to set pass/fail criteria for distributed controllers, PCB’s, and chassis level I/O. Identified and worked with design engineers to resolve functional and susceptibility problems with mixed signal PCB’s. My duties also included designing the interface adapters that link the Units Under Test (UUT’s), programming the automated tests in LabView for Windows, and integrating the tests into the sub-systems automated test production line.
