Royal Air Force Apprenticeship served Mechanical Engineer, with a Degree in Engineering Management, an HNC in Aeronautical Engineering, a qualified Teacher, hold IOSH Managing Safely certificate plus have 33 years’ experience (14 as a Manager) leading and operating within large multi-disciplined engineering teams. Currently I am employed by Allianz in their Engineering Inspection Services as an Engineering Surveyor in the Lift and Crane discipline. In this role I'm required to be self sufficient in planning, client liaison, and travel to ensure my statutory inspections under the HSW Act are carried out and reported on according to UKAS regulations.I spent 2 years in the Oil and Gas Industry as a Survey Engineer and formerly to that I was a Field Service Controller responsible for the planning, organisation and management of 12 field engineers on diesel standby power units and their support systems.My Oil and Gas survey role required me to operate in confined spaces, at heights and in areas of increased risk of explosion and other severe hazards on Petrochemical and Refinery sites whilst inspecting industrial combustion equipment. My survey reports supported safety, operational and efficiency improvements, risk assessments and method statements. Other duties included optimisation of existing equipment plus the installation, commissioning and fault finding of new equipment.
