In the capacity of an oil and gas geologist and scientist I have always been driven and excited with the challenge and reward of discovery. I am motivated by the success I have had in my career in both conventional and unconventional plays which has instilled in me the need for thorough, data driven analysis of geologic, seismic, reservoir engineering and drilling data. The excitement of discovery is not only with new field wildcats but also applies to step out and development success as well as new approaches to well stimulations and uncovering ways to operate oil and gas operations as economically as possible. Throughout my career I have had the privilege of working with some of the greatest minds in the oil and gas industry and I have been rewarded with the results of multi discipline team work. I have been led and have led geoscience teams and I have come to realize that leadership is as much about listening as it is about being listened to. Knowing when to give direction and knowing when to get out of the way is a critical part of effective leadership. I once had a boss who observed that the best thing he could do was to remove obstacles that impeded his team member’s ability to do their jobs. When I am not involved with oil and gas challenges, I enjoy my hobbies of trying to play golf, scuba diving, road biking and photography.
