As Senior Director and Core Team Leader for the development and launch of a new family of Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) systems, I had the opportunity to essentially function as a general manager for this new product development effort. In my cross-functional team, I was privileged to lead team members from all areas of our business unit (engineering development, operations, marketing, clinical, finance, quality, regulatory and human resources) within our matrixed organization. Claim to be established and published in a peer-reviewed clinical journal was “95% inappropriate shock free.” • Successfully contracted the project with the Product Review Committee (Senior Executive team) through all phase gates.• Executed project with defined scope, on schedule (41months) and budget ($29.5M)• Developed strategy to provide peer-reviewed manuscript for 95% inappropriate shock-free claim prior to market launch. Novel computer model was created to predict shock reduction performance over the lifetime of system. The article was published in the Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology. A prospective study was also initiated at launch to validate the results of this model. This study successfully validated the model and was published in Heart Rhythm, Vol 12, No 5, May 2015. -
