Deputy Director
CurrentDeputy Director and Co-Founder of the CREATE for STEM Institute at Michigan State University. Jointly administered by the Colleges of Education and Natural Science at MSU and in partnership with the Colleges of Engineering and the Lyman-Briggs Residential College, CREATE functions as the research hub at Michigan State for efforts to improve STEM Education, K-16.CREATE led the development and roll-out of the Next Generation Science Standards in Michigan and across the country, and is a lead developer of creative and research-tested curricula from elementary school through university undergraduate instruction. In addition to curricula, we develop, test, and provide professional learning for teachers and faculty, formative and summative assessments of student learning, measures of student engagement, and AI tools for assessment and supporting teachers. We innovate, investigate, and inform the broader education world to help all students grow and succeed in the STEM disciplines.
